Terms of Service

By using Kinen ("the Service"), you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. The Service

Kinen is a reading and knowledge management platform. It lets you save, organize, and interact with content through AI-powered features. The Service is provided by Kinen ("we", "us").

2. Accounts

• You must provide a valid email address to create an account.
• You are responsible for keeping your account secure.
• One person per account. Sharing accounts is not permitted.
• You must be at least 16 years old to use the Service.

3. Free and Premium Plans

Kinen offers a free tier and paid Premium plans (monthly or annual). Premium features and pricing are listed on our Pricing page.

• Premium subscriptions are billed in advance through Stripe.
• You can cancel your subscription at any time. Access continues until the end of the current billing period.
• Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis. Contact us at hello@kinen.app for refund requests.

4. Your Content

You retain full ownership of any content you save or create in Kinen. We do not claim any intellectual property rights over your content.

• You grant us a limited license to store, process, and display your content solely to provide the Service.
• You can export your data at any time in markdown and JSON formats.
• You can delete your account and all associated data at any time.

5. AI Features

Kinen provides AI-powered features including summarization, explanation, and question answering. These features:

• Process your content through third-party AI providers to generate responses.
• Are provided "as is" and may occasionally produce inaccurate results.
• Are subject to usage limits based on your plan (free or Premium).

We do not use your content to train AI models.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any illegal purpose or to violate any laws.
• Upload malicious content, malware, or content that infringes on others' rights.
• Attempt to access other users' accounts or data.
• Abuse AI features (e.g., automated mass queries, prompt injection attacks).
• Resell or redistribute the Service without permission.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

7. Availability and Changes

• We strive to keep the Service available but do not guarantee 100% uptime.
• We may modify or discontinue features with reasonable notice.
• We will notify you of material changes to these terms via email.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Kinen is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service.

Our total liability to you for any claims related to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

9. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of France. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of Paris, France.
